The Return of a Legend
Founded in 1885, bankrupt in 1901, revived in 2023: Borussia Brewery brings a true legend back to life - and a piece of (soccer) history.
When the decision was made to revive the story of the old Borussia brewery in Dortmund, Germany, it quickly became clear that it was about more than just "another" beer. It's about the neighborhood, the people, and the tradition behind the legendary export beer.
Dortmund's Borussia Brewery on historic Borsigplatz in Nordstadt is considered the cradle of the legendary football club BVB. Formerly a proud area, today often described as a social hotspot, the initiators clearly focused on reduction in terms of aesthetics for the "relaunch". The design should be simple, respectful, and honest - in keeping with its history as the former favorite drink of Dortmund's steel industry and soccer fans.
Clear shapes, clear language: Borussia Brauerei remains true to its line for the relaunch of the historic beer. The label design dispenses with anything unnecessary: a silver can is dominated by a thick, stylized "B" next to the type designation. This creates space for the historical context of the brewery without imposing itself visually.
